About this Event
Imagine your child's face when they realize they get to operate a real excavator. That moment is waiting for them at S.T.E.A.M.'d Up for Kids at Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks, Oregon, just north of Salem off I-5 (Exit 263). On Saturday, May 16 from 9am to 4pm, 62 acres of living history transforms into the most unique family day in Oregon.
This is not a museum visit. This is an adventure.
Kids build and race their own LEGO cars, make ice cream from scratch, twist rope and take it home, hammer and create in the Build-It Workshop, ride a real miniature train, and climb aboard a barrel train ride. A working blacksmith shop fires up right before their eyes. A replica Bumblebee Transformer car sits waiting for photos. And two real operating mini excavators? Your kids get to drive them.
All of this unfolds across 62 acres home to 14 independent nonprofit museums, from vintage locomotives and trolleys to antique fire trucks, logging equipment, and massive caterpillar machinery. Grandparents who grew up with these machines will have just as much to say as the kids do.
Seven food vendors are on site so you can make a full day of it. Bring a blanket. Stay for hours.
Ages 12 and under: FREE. Adults and teens 13+: $10. Parking: FREE. Very affordable! Pay on site.
There is truly nothing else like this in Oregon. Come see why families come back every single year.
Proudly sponsored by the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund.
