This course provides the education and training in elementary first aid meeting the requirements set out in STCW Reg. VI/1 Sect. A-VI/1 (para 2.1.3) of the STCW Convention and Code 1978 as amended (1995 / 2010).On successful completion, the student will
Understand what to do in case of an accident or medical emergency on board.
Be able to apply elementary first aid techniques.
Who Should Attend
This course is one element of the STCW Basic Safety Training course (STCW 95 / 10) that make up the legal minimum requirement for anyone looking to work commercially, in any position, aboard vessels over 24 metres, in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code.
This can be taken as a “stand-alone” course, or as part of the STCW Basic Safety Training package.
The certificate is recognised by the RYA, as an alternative to the RYA First Aid certificate, for anyone wishing to work under an RYA commercially endorsed qualification. It has the added advantage of being valid for this purpose for 5 years.
No prior knowledge is necessary.
