This course teaches the basics of VHF radio operation, the correct frequencies (channels) to be used and distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures. The VHF radio network has undergone great change with the implementation of the Global Maritime Distress System (GMDSS) and these changes are discussed in depth.
We use the latest Standard Horizon DSC VHF radio equipment rather than computer simulators, so you get the benefit of “hands-on” tuition, and can become confident in using the various controls and DSC (Digital Selective Calling) functions.
Who Should Attend
Anyone intending to use a Marine VHF radio, as it is a legal requirement for all operators to hold a licence.
