Station for Resources #05 - Unearthing Tweebosbuurt: An interactive walkshop with Tânia A. Cardoso and Mustapha Eaisaouiyen

Join illustrator and urban researcher Tânia A. Cardoso and resident and activist Mustapha Eaisaouiyen on an interactive drawing workshop and tour! Through walking, observing, listening, and drawing in situ, participants are invited to discover how illustration can become a tool for urban storytelling, communication, and collective imagination. No drawing experience is needed, materials are provided.
We start at 16h at the Grondstoffenstation with a short introduction where Tânia will briefly explain the method and distribute materials to the participants. Then Tânia and Mustapha will take us on a ‘walkshop’ through the Tweebosbuurt. We will be back at the Grondstoffenstation to enjoy some drinks and snacks, and shortly review our sketches. Followed at 18h by an open-air class by Tânia where she will explain her work and method in more detail until 18.30. We will wrap up with a half-hour borrel.

Once a vibrant part of Afrikaanderwijk, the Tweebosbuurt now stands largely erased. Former resident and activist Mustapha Eaisaouiyen guides participants through this transformed neighbourhood and the housing policies that reshaped it, sharing stories of resistance, resilience, and the right to stay. Alongside this, Tânia A. Cardoso introduces illustration as a visual form of urban storytelling, opening up new ways to analyse urban issues, raise awareness, and uncover perspectives between urban studies and drawing practice.
On Thursday 16 April, Tânia will reveal her drawings made especially for the Studio Program during our closing event 19-21h, the radio show ‘Studio for Collective Learning for a Shared and Just City’, at Cultuur&Campus Putselaan. More info soon!
ABOUT
Tânia A. Cardoso is an illustrator and urbanist whose work connects illustration, architecture, communities, and urban research. Through drawing in situ, reportage art, and visual storytelling, she explores the poetics of everyday life and the city as lived experience. She founded StudioTako, WARP and was Stadstekenares for the city of Rotterdam.
Mustapha Eaisaouiyen is a former resident of the demolished Tweebosbuurt and a committed organiser around housing justice in Rotterdam and beyond. He is one of the founders of Right to the City and Woonopstand, director of COOPLINK, and active in the Bond Precaire Woonvormen, Bewonersgroep Tweebos, and a member of Afrikaanderwijk Cooperative.
This event is part of the Studio Programme: Collective Learning for a Shared and Just City, organised by the Afrikaanderwijk Cooperatie for Cultuur & Campus Putselaan. Collective learning, sharing knowledge, production, and presentation are central to the programme, which is grounded in experiences and questions from Rotterdam South. One of the Studio Programme’s three thematic lines is A Station for Resources, which offers a series of public classes, talks, and workshops in and around the Grondstoffenstation (Recycle Resource Station).
