This Jam and Meetup is for those interested in learning the technical basics of video sketch comedy, including lighting set-up, framing shots, ensuring sound quality, and editing scenes. We aim to help you create video sketch content for cheap - or FREE! All you need to bring is your cell phone!
Sketch Jams are FREE and open to Houston-based or visiting sketch writers, improvisers, and performers. Make sure to reserve your FREE ticket to guarantee your space.
Station Theater is always looking for content to share our content on our YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram/Facebook Reels. That could be yours!

Station AV Club is also an opportunity for sketch troupes to have the AV team professionally produce multi-angle video sketches and improv troupes to record sets for comedy festival submissions.

Why is Jesse the perfect person to support this program and boost video sketch in the Station Community? Glad you asked! Have you ever played a game on Disney.com? Possibly Jesse's creation. Did you watch bonus content on a Shrek DVD? You can thank Jesse for that.
Jesse Garson spent many years writing and directing special DVD features and doing voiceovers for video games and animated shorts. In 2010, Jesse taught actors how to write and produce their own short content as part of Theatrics, LLC. He co-wrote character-driven improv scenes for the web series Beckinfield, which featured a large cast of performers worldwide, including Jonathan Frakes. (For you non-nerd types, that's Commander Ryker from Star Trek: The Next Generation.)
ADDITIONAL DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS
- Jam schedules may be adjusted for Holidays and Special Events.
- All participants should be vaccinated for COVID-19.
- Must be 18 years or older unless accompanied by a parent.
- All participants must follow all Station Theater Handbook & Code of Conduct policies.
- All participants must have a completed Releases & Acknowledgements Form on file. We will have copies on the day of the Jam.
- All attendees must participate. Spectators and guests are not permitted.
- Warm-ups (if needed) start promptly at 4:00 pm. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the Jam begins.

Located next to Toros HTX Soccer on Crockett between Taylor and Hemphill Streets.
PARKING & TRANSPORTATION
Ample street parking is available along Crockett, Hemphill, Summer, and Taylor Streets. Make sure to check street signs for parking availability. Please do not park in the lot in front of Toros HTX unless it is closed. Please be mindful when parking in front of area homes, as some driveways are difficult to see.
The #30 bus stops at Sawyer St and Shearn St, which is approximately a 2-minute walk.
