Dr. Puthiery Va is the Director of Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, where she oversees the state's public health programs, policies, and initiatives, and leads a team of dedicated professionals who work to protect and improve the health of Maine residents. She has over nine years of experience in medicine, public health, epidemiology, and program development. Before joining Maine CDC, she served as a physician and public health director with the Indian Health Service, serving the Navajo communities of Chinle, Arizona.
She is passionate about advancing public health science, population health equity, and applying evidence-based solutions that center on the human experience, relationships, and connections.
