Meet our 2026 Start High School Hall of Fame Inductees!

Michael Cassidy (Class of 1973) – Michael fondly remembers his Start High School years as four years of fun, friendships, and involvement, including time with the Fishing Club, wrestling, and track. He went on to earn a BBA in Marketing from the University of Toledo and began his professional career in beverage distribution while still a student. Mike later built a successful business that grew into a Coca-Cola wholesale distributorship serving Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. He has remained committed to service through leadership roles with community organizations and as an Ohio Responds Volunteer. Now retired, Mike enjoys life on the lake, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Christina (Conti) Moreland (Class of 2000) - Christina was involved in cheerleading, peer leadership, and baton twirling as a majorette. She later graduated Cum Laude from the University of Toledo with a degree in Psychology. Christina has spent more than 20 years serving the Toledo community in behavioral health and child welfare. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of roles at Lucas County Children Services, including caseworker, investigator, and supervisor. She currently serves as Supervisor of Quality Assurance and Improvement Initiatives, supporting quality and accountability for children and families across Lucas County.

Christy Frank (Class of 2000) – Christy is a proud graduate whose career blends public service, education, and storytelling. At Start, she was involved in academics, music, theater, leadership, and numerous extracurricular activities. She has dedicated more than 20 years to public service and currently works in county government. Christy is also the founder of Little Sprouts Academy, a nature-based preschool serving West Toledo families since 2006. Through her work in education and conservation storytelling, she continues to give back to the community that helped shape her.

Robert Hogle (Class of 1974) – Robert was a standout student-athlete and leader at Start High School, serving as captain of the wrestling team and holding multiple leadership roles in business organizations. He was a three-year varsity wrestler, state qualifier, and state placer while earning numerous athletic and academic honors. Bob went on to earn degrees from The Ohio State University and the University of Toledo and built a successful 40-year career in IT auditing and leadership. Now retired, he remains committed to service through coaching, volunteerism, and community involvement.

Dr. Steven E. LeBlanc (Class of 1972) – Dr. LeBlanc devoted 38 years to the University of Toledo as a professor of chemical engineering, department chair, senior administrator, and interim vice provost, retiring in 2018 as Professor Emeritus. Dr. LeBlanc co-authored influential textbooks, received numerous teaching and professional honors, and was named an AIChE Fellow. His career reflects a lasting commitment to education, leadership, and service rooted in his Start High School experience.

Daniel Meyer (Class of 2002) – Daniel graduated from Start High School while completing the Residential Electrical Program and later served in the U.S. Air Force as an Electrical and Environmental Systems Specialist. He deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and was medically retired due to serious health conditions caused by toxic burn pit exposure. Daniel has since become a strong advocate for veterans affected by environmental hazards, including efforts supporting the PACT Act. He continues to serve the veteran and disabled communities while pursuing education and family life.

Yolanda (Richardson) Swain (Class of 2009) – Yolanda was a dominant leader at Start High School and a key part of one of the most successful eras in program history. As a senior, she led Start to its first City League, District, and Regional Championships and a berth in the Division I State Semifinals while earning numerous Player of the Year honors. She went on to star at the University of Toledo, becoming a two-time All-MAC selection, WNIT Co-MVP, and one of the program’s all-time leaders in points, rebounds, and blocked shots.
