The Standard Mental Health First Aid course is designed for any interested adult. Delivery is over 2 days (12 hours) in a comfortable safe space in the city, at a cost of $300.Participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems in adults, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
The course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
Please note this is an education course, to learn how to give first aid to others, rather than a therapy or support group. You will be provided with a reference manual to take home and all you need to bring is (a pen), your enthusiasm, compassion and life experience.
