Collaborative Glass Class: Fused Part Sheets to Stained Glass FlowerDates:
April 12 – Part 1 (combined classes will meet 11:00am-1:00pm)
April 19 – Part 2 (two class times available 10:00am-1:30pm or 3:00pm-6:30pm)
Join Ebbie from Casting Glass Stones and Heather from Heart Happy Glass for a unique two-part collaborative class that blends the colorful creativity of fused glass with the timeless beauty of stained glass.
Part 1 – Create Your Fused Glass Part Sheets
April 12
Begin with an introduction to creating your own fused glass part sheets. These custom sheets will become the decorative elements used in your stained glass project the following week.
During this 2-hour session, students will explore working with powder, frit, stringer, confetti, and sheet glass while designing and creating four small part sheets. These pieces will be kiln fired and ready to incorporate into your project during Part 2.
What You'll Learn
How to safely use powders to create unique patterns with a variety of tools and stencils
How to utilize powder, stringer, confetti, and sheet glass to design beautiful fused glass part sheets
Tips for layering and creating texture with accessory glass
This session is a fun and approachable way to experiment with the many textures and decorative materials used in fused glass.
Part 2 – Stained Glass Flower Suncatcher
April 19
Discover the magic of stained glass in this hands-on, beginner-friendly class led by Heather. Using the fused glass pieces you created in Part 1, you'll build a beautiful stained glass flower suncatcher using the copper foil method (also known as the Tiffany technique).
In this 3.5-hour session, you'll be guided step-by-step through the stained glass process while incorporating your fused glass into the design.
What You'll Learn
How to safely cut and shape glass, including tips for working with fused glass elements
How to apply copper foil to each piece
Soldering techniques to join your project together
Application of a lead border
Tips for patina and finishing touches
3D effects such as adding a fin and glass eye
Project Details
Participants will all create the same flower pattern. During class, you'll have the opportunity to select your own color palette from a curated variety of beautiful glass to complement the fused glass you created in Part 1.
Safety Requirements
For your protection:
Closed-toe shoes and clothing that fully covers your legs are required.
Students must be able to wear an N95 mask while working with glass powder.
A safety waiver must be signed before class begins.

Classes are held over two consecutive weeks.
All tools and materials are provided. Just bring your creativity and a sense of adventure.
