About this Event
Itinerary Description
The day begins with a guided Eucharist service, led by the Dean of the Cathedral the Very Reverend Gavin Krebs.
After the service, a reflection will be provided for either solitary reflection or discussion over morning tea.
At midday there will be a break for lunch before the two workshops begin. Remember to bring lunch or otherwise you are welcome to wander into the Goulburn CBD. The town centre is a 5 minute walk away.
To finish the day, there will be a contemporary service of Prayer, Praise and Proclamation.
At any point during the retreat, you are welcome to step away from organised activities and explore the cathedral and Goulburn.
Growing through liturgies
Liturgy is prayer given to us within the community of the Church. A liturgy is a pattern of worship that as it becomes a repeated habit forms us into the image of God. Liturgies have their own particular rhythms and are not confined to church services. They are a collective daily offering to God.
Examples of Liturgies
Giving thanks over a meal
Daily prayer / quiet time
Taking part in Communion
Liturgy directs us to a Triune God.
Liturgies help us to make conscious observations of God in this world. To acknowledge the guidance of the Holy Spirit. And to become more like Christ.
Our prayer is that this retreat will help you engage with Emmanuel, God who is with us always.
Workshop A: Contemporary liturgical practices (mission & testimony)
Workshop B: Liturgy in repetition and tradition (resting in litanies & prayer)
