Stéphane Denève, music directorVíkingur Ólafsson, piano
The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and its music director, Stéphane Denéve, continue to enthrall Krannert Center audiences with thoughtful and innovative programming. Charming audiences with his wit, warmth, and genuine passion for music, Denéve takes us on a complex and emotional journey with SLSO composer-in-residence Kevin Puts, who dedicated his Concerto for Orchestra to Denéve and the orchestra.
This music resonates alongside a new work by Chinese composer Jasmine Guo, the sound of where I came from, a League of American Orchestras commission with a November 2025 premiere. Music of Beethoven opens and closes the program, beginning with The Consecration of the House Overture and concluding with acclaimed pianist Vikingur Ólafsson performing Beethoven's heroic Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor".
Please note that the following items are not allowed in the concert hall: backpacks, large bags, strollers, instrument cases, food, beverages other than bottled water, tripods, signs, balloons, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, and any other items deemed to be dangerous or to pose an obstruction.
