
About this Event
Background:
St. John’s Bread and Life was founded in 1982 and works to alleviate hunger and poverty in Brooklyn and Queens. Every day, Bread and Life serves over 2,500 meals to hungry New Yorkers through their Lexington Avenue facility and their unique Mobile Soup Kitchen. Other services provided include counseling, film reflection groups, nutritional education, digital choice food pantry, legal & immigration, benefit acquisition, SNAP services, Project ID, and medical services.
Project Description:
Presently volunteers are needed in the digital choice pantry, produce, and kitchen department.
Volunteers will be needed for the following tasks:
- Packing Pantry bags
- Stocking and restocking digital choice pantry shelves
- Preparing produce and protein bags
- Packing meals/spoons for grab and go
- Breaking down boxes
St. John's Bread and Life is ADA accessible and can accommodate two wheelchair users.
You must be a current or retired Port Authority employee in order to participate in this event.
