We are pleased to welcome back once more our good friend Steve Suffet who describes himself as a native New Yorker and an old fashioned folksinger!
Steve started hanging out around the fountain in New York City's Washington Square Park on warm Sunday afternoons, and tried to absorb everything he heard, including blues, bluegrass, ragtime, ballads, cowboy songs, hobo songs, union songs, and topical-political songs. In a year or two he started performing at open stage nights at various clubs and coffee houses and then on to more performance gigs.
Steve also sings some self penned work. In fact, the well respected songwriter Si Kahn once said to Steve “You write really good songs." High praise indeed!
Recorded music: four CDs, two digital albums, and many digital singles are available from Amazon and other online retailers.
Steve's songs are about life and politics, and the music is "old fashioned" folk music, very much in the vein of Woody Guthrie et al. - Mike Newman, Four Dogs Music, Felinfach, Wales.
This is the real deal: folk music as the people's entertainment, accessible and relevant but also suitably thought-provoking where required. - David Kidman, Black Swan Folk Club, York, England.
This is a charity night concert in aid of St Gemma’s. Steve will perform the equivalent of a set and the rest will comprise of floor spots. There’ll be a collection on the night. Do join us for a great night and help raise funds for an important local charity.
