SSI Explorers - Unforgettable Aquatic Adventures for Kids!
The SSI Explorers (formerly Scuba Rangers) program allows children to go underwater and sample the different ways they can explore the aquatic world around them. They will gain a solid foundation in ocean conservation and have the opportunity to experience four main aquatic adventures: snorkeling, scuba diving, freediving, and swimming like a real mermaid. These underwater adventures will enable young divers to acquire maturity, self-esteem, and a sense of responsibility.
How does the SSI Explorers program work?
Participants must complete the Blue Oceans and Snorkel Explorers programs first.
This provides a solid foundation for water skills and the importance of protecting the aquatic environment. These two programs are taught during the first two sessions of SSI Explorers.
SSI Blue Oceans Explorer
This classroom based program provides an introduction of the importance of protecting and preserving the world’s oceans. Your child will learn why the oceans are important, about the world’s five oceans, and what they can do to help protect the oceans.
SSI Snorkel Explorer
Your child can then head to the pool to learn about snorkel equipment and snorkeling skills to earn their Snorkel Explorer rating.

After completing these two initial experiences, SSI Explorers can complete one (or all three) aquatic adventures and either become a Scuba Explorer, Mermaid Explorer, and/or Freediving Explorer.
SSI SCUBA Explorer
Learn how to breathe underwater using real SCUBA equipment!
During four pool session, your child will learn how to assemble and use SCUBA equipment. We will learn skills and play games to keep the experience safe and fun!

Thursday June 4th - SSI Snorkel Explorer & SSI Scuba Explorer (1)
Thursday June 11th - SSI Scuba Explorer (2)
Thursday June 18th - SSI Scuba Explorer (3)
Thursday June 25th - SSI Scuba Explorer (4)

All other sessions will be held at a private outdoor pool in St Andrews. Address to be provided at the time of registration.

Course fees

SSI Blue Oceans and Snorkel Explorer + Scuba Explorer = $300.00 plus tax
MERMAID EXPLORER - Includes an additional pool session to learn to swim like a real mermaid! Add on Mermaid Explorer = $ 75.00 plus tax
FREEDIVING EXPLORER - Includes an additional pool session to learn how to swim underwater on just one breath.
Add on Freediving Explorer = $ 75.00 plus tax
If your child would like to complete all three (Scuba, Freediver and Mermaid) Explorer programs, the cost is $425.00 plus tax
SSI Scuba Explorers course includes an SSI Explorers manual, certification card, as well as all rental equipment needed for the course.
During the SSI Explorers pool sessions, safety always comes first. SSI Explorers can only be taught by specially trained instructors in a pool up to a maximum depth of 4 meters (12 feet), and the instructor-student ratio is always respected.
