Concert at 6.30 pm: Hindustani and Karnatic Flute Jugalbandhi by Pt. Pravin Godkhindi (Hindustani Flute), Vid. Shashank Subramanyam (Karnatic Flute) accompanied by Vid. Arjun Kumar – Mridanga and Pt. Ravindra Yavagal - Tabla. The Academy of Music, one of the most prominent cultural organizations has completed 63 years of service dedicated to the promotion of the music both, Carnatic and Hindustani and dances of all forms and other fine arts. Since 1981, The Academy has been giving National Award every year to a renowned artiste of the country besides conducting a five day music festival. The award is in memory of the Vidwan Sangeetha Ratna Mysore T. Chowdiah. Almost all the stalwarts of classical music (Hindustani and Karnatic) have been bestowed with the Chowdiah Awards and have performed for the Academy of Music. The renowned musicians of the country who are recipients of the above award are Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Padmavibhushan Smt. D.K. Pattammal. Padma Bhushan Smt. M.L. Vasanth Kumari, Dr. L. Subramanian, Padmashri Dr. Kadrigopalanath, Padmavibhushan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Padmavibhushan Pdt. Jasraj, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, Padmavibhushan Smt. Sudha Raghunathan, Dr. Bombay Jayashree etc., This year Academy of Music will be conducting a five day music festival, 'Sri K.K. Murthy Memorial Music Festival'', from 6th to 10th November 2024 and the presentation of the Academy of Music Chowdiah Award will be held on 10th Nov. 2024 at 6.00 pm. A spectacular musical performance by renowned artists of our country will be presented on all the five days of the festival.
