Join the Arctic Audubon Society for the next program in our Winter Speaker Series! Come listen to Squirrel Biologist, Moriz Steiner as he talks about his research on Squirrels of Alaska and the World. The program will be on Monday, March 3, at 6:00 pm at the Noel Wien Library Auditorium or by Zoom (Meeting ID: 820 6620 5100, Passcode: 838417). The event is free and all are welcome! This talk will touch on modern squirrel research, data, culture, conservation, and the impacts of climate change and land management on the future of squirrels in Alaska. While most species of squirrels actually live in the tropics, the US (thought to be the originating grounds of all squirrel species) has some squirrel hotspots, and Alaska features (likely over) 6 species of squirrels. A free digital copy of his research book wth Huettmann (2023) covering 300 species of squirrels, will be available!
Please contact Carissa Pienkowski ([email protected]) with any questions.
