About this Event
Written by Caldecott winner Matthew Burgess and illustrated by Julie Benbassat, Mungo on His Own is the comforting story of a young fox’s adventure of independence and resilience. This lush picture book supports social emotional learning while helping children process the excitement—and uncertainty—of doing things on their own.
Julie Benbassat is an award winning illustrator and painter based in Philadelphia. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2019, she has amassed a range of clients in editorial, publishing, games, and animation. She has also taught as an adjunct professor in the Animation and Illustration programs at The University of the Arts and in the Graduate Children's Literature and Illustration program at Hollins University.
She received a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in the editorial category and has been recognized by several publications such as American Illustration, Nautilus, and many others. In her spare moments, she relishes cooking new soups, plein air painting on cloudy days, and playing with her cat Mo the Moonpie.
We hope to see you there for a special reading by Julie Benbassat with signing to follow!
