About this Event

Sprints & Spirits

The Sprints & Spirits event will explore the dynamic intersection of gender justice and sports. We will celebrate the strides made towards gender equity and rights on and off the field, while confronting ongoing challenges to inclusion and safety.

As anti-gender and anti-rights actors and movements gain momentum, this event provides a crucial space to leverage sport in dismantling harmful narratives, learning from and connecting with those already doing so. Marginalised groups have often created spaces of solidarity and belonging within football pitches, netball courts and boxing gyms, using these to foster opportunities for collective organising and activism.

Join us in Paris to explore the potential for societal change when feminism and sports are brought together. Engage in critical discussions, connect with advocates, and build coalitions to champion the rights and safety of girls, women and gender-diverse individuals locally, regionally and globally.

Women Win is a global multi-dimensional women’s fund guided by the vision of a future where every girl and woman exercises their rights. In 2007, we were established to address the enormous lack of girl-centred sports programming. From our very beginning, we have committed to partnering closely with local organisations to shape inclusive and responsive sports programmes unique to the needs of each community. We have been fortunate to walk side-by-side with our partners and co-design innovative sports initiatives that empower girls, resource organisations working at the intersection of sport and girls’ rights, and connect women’s funds and stakeholders from the sport for development sector. Seventeen years later, we continue striving to reimagine and transform sports with more feminist and democratic approaches while advocating for sports as a strategy to achieve gender equity.
