Celebrate the beauty of spring with an elegant, hands-on pastry experience inspired by the charm of France. In this delightful decorating class, you’ll learn how to assemble and finish a stunning spring-themed Charlotte cake, filled with luscious pastry cream and adorned with fresh seasonal berries, delicate florals, and fragrant herbs.
Guided by professional Pastry Chef Dawn Alston of Ravy Cakes, you’ll explore techniques for creating a beautifully structured Charlotte, styling it with soft, romantic touches that capture the essence of the season. From layering and filling to artful garnish placement, this class blends skill-building with creativity in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
As a special treat, guests will enjoy tea service and decorate a mystery French-themed pastry to enjoy during class or take home. A surprise confection inspired by the pâtisseries of Paris.
Whether you’re a baking enthusiast or simply looking for a charming afternoon out, this class is a sweet way to welcome spring.
All skill levels are welcome. Leave with your own decorated Charlotte cake and a touch of Parisian inspiration. All packing materials will be included so you can take sweets home.

Meet Your Instructor:
Dawn Alston of Ravy Cakes, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, grew up in Northern Virginia where she started baking at the age of six. Dawn holds an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts and has competed in many local baking events and in 2018 she competed on Food Network’s Wedding Cake Championship. All The Details:
- Age Level: 13+
- Skill Level: Beginner
- Each ticket includes 1 person
- All supplies and tools are provided for use during class.
- We will provide a box for each couple to take your cake home in
- The class may be a little messy so we recommend bringing an apron.
- If you have long hair, you may want to tie it back.
- Class requires a minimum of 4 people and there is a maximum of 10. In the event of insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
- Class will run approximately 3 hours. Please note that the class is hands-on and may run over or under schedule.
Cancellation Policy:
Changes and cancellations...we know life happens so we try our best to be flexible while being fair to our instructors who purchase supplies and bake for each student. Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made at least 5 days prior to the class. If you need to cancel after 5 days but at least 48 hours in advance, we can offer you a credit for a future class. We cannot offer any credits for cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled class.
