About this Event
WHAT
We are all facing enormous upheaval caused by the climate crisis, the economic and funding environment, the long-tail effects of the pandemic and more. We need to know how to find our way in this new world. That's why Creative Carbon Scotland have chosen transformational change as their theme for SPRINGBOARD 2025. We’ll focus on how all of society will need to reimagine itself in the face of the climate change we are experiencing, and how the arts and cultural sector, as well as working on its own transformation, can contribute to the transformation of wider society.
Day Two takes place entirely online but Day One includes the opportunity to join a local 'Watch Party' like ours so that attendees can watch and listen together, then discuss, meet and share ideas.
Step one is to . Step two is to sign up here for the CILIPS Watch Party!

WHY
As the professional body for library staff across Scotland, CILIPS is passionate about the vital role of libraries in growing locally-rooted environmental action. Libraries of all sectors are the beating hearts of their communities, trusted to innovate and inspire in a uniquely equitable way, and we hope that our SPRINGBOARD watch party will unite library professionals with the patrons we serve to learn new ways in which culture can empower us all to combat the climate crisis.
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
Day 1: Wednesday 5 March
10.15am-5.30pm including breaks
This first day of SPRINGBOARD will focus on keynote speakers and inspiration. We’ll watch, listen and learn together, online and at our local watch party.
Speakers will include:
- Rebecca Ford, Director of the International Futures Forum, will introduce the Three Horizons, a framework for structuring our thinking about the future to unlock transformative innovation.
- Leonie Bell, Director of V&A Dundee, will share her thoughts and experience on change, challenge and leadership.
- Amina Shah, National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland, will talk about the library transformed – how to imagine the next chapter in an age of uncertainty.
Throughout the day there will also be artistic contributions by Ink Asher Hemp, freelance multidisciplinary artist, facilitator and advocate. Attendees will have time for networking and breaks for private reflection away from the screen.
We believe that libraries have a key part to play in illuminating radical, sustainable alternatives to how we work, live and create together, grounded in resource and knowledge sharing. If you agree, please join us!
