About this Event

The third annual 2025 Girls Who Chase virtual Spring Training event - in partnership with COMET/MetEd and sponsored by the American Meteorological Society offers foundational, operational and accessible information and training material for storm chasers at all levels - from those who want to begin their chase education or brush up on the basics, to more advanced chasers wanting to learn more in-depth about specialized topics. Just like in baseball, we gather every spring to shake off the rust, refresh our skills, and get ready to hit a home run.

Spring Training speakers are experts within their fields, and the training is an opportunity to learn from them in-depth, in addition to offering interactive opportunities to ask questions and chat with chasing veterans.

We are still choosing speakers and topics for 2025, but our events focus in the following areas and we offer a range of options, from entry-level to advanced knowledge bases (stay tuned for updates as we get closer to 2025):

Understanding & using storm structure to chase successfully
How to read radar, satellite & mesoanalysis (real-time surface observations)
Positioning for safe & successful chasing
Safety & disaster response
Chase case studies
Specialized topics such as lightning photography, reading data and models, video production and more!

The event also includes two all-female panels in meteorology and storm chasing, offering opportunities to chat with experts in/from:

Storm chasers in the U.S., Canada and Australia
U.S. Storm Prediction Center/National Weather Service
Academia/research in meteorology
Broadcast meteorology
Meteorology education

TO ACCESS THE EVENT:

A join/streaming link for this event will be sent to registrants via email approximately 48 hours prior to event start, and again the morning of the event. The event will go live promptly at 9:00am MT on March 1, at the link you have been provided. Please make sure you double-check the email address that you used to register for this event, as that is where you will be sent your access information!

All presentations will be recorded and made permanently available to registrants - so if you can't make it, you can check 'em out after the fact (and watch as many times as you want). We will distribute the link to the recordings via email to all registrants shortly after the event has ended (typically within 8-10 business days to allow us time to produce and upload).
