What is a Sound Bath?
Sound healing helps you relax deeply, quiet your mind, and feel more at peace in your body. The vibrations from instruments like singing bowls, gongs, or chimes gently shift your energy, releasing stress and emotional tension. Many people feel lighter, clearer, and more connected to themselves after a session. It’s a simple but powerful way to support your body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance.
FAQs: Answers for Common Questions
What is sound healing / What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where healing vibrations guide you into deep rest and inner balance. Using crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, drums, and chimes, I create a rich soundscape that helps calm the nervous system and quiet the mind. As you relax and receive, your body naturally resets, releases tension, and returns to a state of harmony.
How does it work?
Sound healing works by using vibrations to shift your brainwaves and nervous system into a relaxed, healing state. The tones and frequencies from instruments like singing bowls and gongs help release tension, clear energy blocks, and restore balance in the body. As you listen and relax, your body naturally goes on a journey and moves toward rest, repair, and inner harmony.

What should I bring or do to prepare?
To prepare for a sound bath, wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat, blanket, and any props (like a bolster or eye pillow) to help you feel cozy and supported while lying down. We do have props available at the studio for you to use free of charge. It’s helpful to arrive a few minutes early to settle in and set an intention for your experience. Try to come with an open mind and allow yourself to simply receive—no effort or experience is needed.
Is it okay if I fall asleep or don’t “feel” anything?
Yes, absolutely! It’s perfectly okay if you fall asleep or don’t “feel” anything during a sound bath. Your body still receives the healing vibrations, even if your mind drifts or you enter a deep rest state. Trust that whatever happens is exactly what you need in the moment.
What will happen during the session?
During the session, you’ll be invited to lie down on a yoga mat and get comfortable with a blanket or pillow—anything that helps you fully relax. We’ll begin with a short introduction and explanation followed by some gentle breathwork to help you settle in. Then, you’ll simply rest and listen as I guide you through a sound journey using singing bowls, gongs, and other instruments. There’s nothing to do but receive. After the sound bath, you’ll have a few quiet moments to slowly return and ground. You’re welcome to journal, share, or just enjoy the peaceful afterglow.
What should I expect after the session?
After a sound bath, you might feel deeply relaxed, refreshed, or even a little emotional—and all of that is completely normal. The vibrations can stir up stuck energy, so gentle movement, rest, or journaling can help with integration. Be sure to drink plenty of water, give yourself space to ground (like walking barefoot or spending time in nature), and listen to what your body and emotions need. The effects can continue unfolding over the next few days, so treat yourself kindly and with care and observe without any judgement.
About Me
Nadine Dekema offers a powerful combination of yoga, breathwork, and sound to unlock deep transformation. Her work centers on using sound to bypass the mind and speak directly to the body’s energy field, creating a vibrational space that restores balance and awakens the body's natural healing intelligence. This powerful, heart-centered approach began with Anusara Yoga in 2005 and includes certifications in breathwork (2014) and sound healing (2025). Grounded in the deep resilience she found during her own healing process after a 2025 cancer diagnosis, Nadine creates nurturing spaces for others to find renewal and reconnection.
