Join Us for the Spring Science Festival! 🌸🔬

Celebrate the season with a weekend full of hands-on science, creative crafts, and playful experimentation! From turning electronic parts into art to exploring the colorful chemistry of pH, our Spring Science Festival offers fun, drop-in activities for curious minds of all ages.

Dates & Times:
Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29
Activities run throughout the day beginning at 12 PM.

Location:
The Craft Lab at Because Science
1759 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC 20009

We’re located in the Adams Morgan neighborhood, accessible via the Red Line (Woodley Park) and Green Line (Columbia Heights), along with several bus routes. If you’re driving, there’s a parking garage at 2421 18th St NW.

Event Highlights

Saturday, March 28

  • E-Waste Collage (12:00–1:45 PM)
    Discover how electronic components can become part of your own unique art piece.
  • Cherry Blossom Collage (2:00–3:45 PM)
    Create a mixed-media cherry blossom collage using unexpected materials and take home your masterpiece.
  • DIY Flower Necklace (4:00–6:00 PM)
    Transform origami paper into a beautiful handmade necklace.
  • Sidewalk Activity: Take-It-Apart (12:00–4:00 PM)
    Ever wondered what’s inside your electronics? Grab a screwdriver and safely explore the inner workings of broken tech.

Sunday, March 29

  • DIY Cherry Blossom Magnets (12:00–1:45 PM)
    Use a button press to create a one-of-a-kind magnet inspired by spring blossoms.
  • Painting with pH (2:00–4:00 PM)
    Learn how acidity and chemistry can change colors while you paint!

How It Works

Drop-In Style:
Activities run on a schedule throughout the festival. Stop by anytime and jump into a project! Each activity typically takes 10–30 minutes, making it easy to try multiple crafts throughout the day.

No Registration Needed:
Just show up and join the fun. If the beginning of an activity block is busy, feel free to explore the store and hop in shortly after.
