6 weeks of handbuilding pottery with our resident artist and ceramicist Sharon Giles.
About this Event

Our experienced tutor Sharon Giles will teach basic handbuilding skills and more advanced techniques to create your own bespoke ceramics over 6 weekly sessions in a welcoming atmosphere in our dedicated Pottery Studio at Hat Works. You’ll have the opportunity to create several pieces, guided with inspiration from Sharon or exploring your own projects. The class itself and the pottery created also make a thoughtful, unique gift! Several attendees have brought along friends or partners or given as a gift in a card, available in our shop. All skill levels welcome.

''Great tutor! Lovely group of people. Small group. Really relaxed approach that encouraged us to experiment with the clay.''

What You Need to Know

White earthenware clay, equipment and glazes are all included. Additional clay, glazes and firings will be available to purchase.

Pieces will be fired by our dedicated team and ready to collect 2-3 weeks later, we'll let you know by email when they're ready.

You will be enrolled onto the whole course, so please ensure that you’re able to attend all sessions before purchasing as alternative dates can't be offered.

Course dates are:

Wednesday 15th, 22nd, 29th April and 6th, 13th and 20th May 18:30-20:30

This workshop is designed with adults in mind, so we prefer participants aged 16 and over, but everyone is welcome to learn with us, so please get in touch before booking if you have any questions about this.

Experience a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in our spacious cafe and studios at Stockport Hat Works. Enjoy the freedom to express yourself and feel the benefits of creativity, connect with fellow art enthusiasts, and take home something to be proud of.

Our workshops are inclusive and supportive, providing space to grow and learn together. Whether you're an experienced artist or taking your first steps, we welcome all abilities.

Whilst visiting the centre, you are welcome to buy drinks and snacks from our Gallery Café.
