Your featured poets include:
(Host) Angelica Mercado-Ford (she/her) is an educator, advocate, and author. Focusing on stories of womanhood, migration, cultural awareness, and belonging, Mercado-Ford's written and visual works have appeared nationally in many literary arts magazines. She is the author of a book of poetry, Todo Revoluciona. Professionally, she dedicates her time to her positions as educator and head debate coach where she focuses on equity while uplifting her students' voices. Follow her at @lalobaldelmal_
Nicole M. Mutchler (she/her) is a writer and poet living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She can often be found writing near a window or on her favorite park bench wondering at the fluidity and cyclicity of the natural world and how it parallels human life and emotion. These relationships are often speculated and reflected upon in her works. Read more of her work on Instagram at @NicoleMutchler
Dr. Liz Renner (she/her) is a queer fisheries biologist, a lifelong South Dakotan, and a newcomer to the local poetry scene. An avid outdoorswoman, her work is heavily inspired by her passion for the Missouri River and the nine million people who rely on it for clean drinking water. Keep up with the Doc @drlizardshad
Lakota Kikyo (Liz Skye Drappeau) (they/she) is an Oglála/Hunkphapȟa Lakȟóta artist who grew up in Sioux Falls, SD. Throughout high school, they were introduced to the hip-hop culture and music scene, this is where they found a sense of community that incited a fire within their spirit. In 2017, they began developing their writing style into spoken word which allowed them to use a critical lens to passionately express anti-settler colonial sentiments, deconstructing their experiences as a young Lakota in contemporary times.
