The Land-Grant Spring Open House will immerse attendees in the power of STEM and Agriculture to transform communities, protect the environment, and tackle urban challenges with innovative solutions through research and education. Join us and celebrate what happens when urban communities invest in green spaces, clean water, healthy food, and the next generation of environmental leaders.

Take a Guided Tour of Our Van Ness Campus Facilities:

  • 🌱 UDC Green Roof — Step onto our 20,000 sq. ft. living laboratory on the roof, where herbs and vegetables grow above the city and stormwater becomes a research opportunity
  • 🔬 Environmental Quality Testing Lab — See nationally-accredited science in action, protecting water and air quality for DC and beyond
  • 🥗 Food Science Kitchen Laboratory — Explore where nutrition innovation and food chemistry come to life in a professional, licensed production space
  • 🥦 Firebird Nutrition Assessment Lab — Discover cutting-edge tools that connect what we eat to how we live, from body composition testing to metabolic analysis
  • 🥽 Firebird Immersive Innovation Lab & Maker Space — Put on a VR headset, prototype a design, and experience the future of human-centered innovation

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is a historically Black, urban land grant university that offers associate, baccalaureate, and graduate programs, certificate programs and community outreach programs to learners of all ages.

The College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) embodies the land-grant tradition of UDC. We offer cutting edge academic programs in urban sustainability, water resources management, nutrition and dietetics, urban architecture and community planning.
