Participants will learn what fossils are, why fossilization is rare, and the special conditions needed to preserve ancient life. After a short interactive lesson, kids will become paleontologists in a Fossil Casting Lab, creating their own plaster fossil casts from real molds and then painting them as realistically as possible. Along the way, they’ll explore molds, casts, and impressions, and learn how minerals slowly replace living material over time. This creative, science-based program helps kids understand that fossils don’t form all at once—they are copies of life shaped by time, pressure, and the environment.
