Uncover the hidden worlds of creatures who live, forage and depend on the habitats surrounding our trails. Through play, movement and guided exploration, kids will discover how California native plants build habitats that support native wildlife and ecosystems.
- Herb Walk (designed for adults, ages 10+ welcome)
Led by a local herbalist, explore a variety of California native medicinal plants and explore their practical uses from ethnobotany to western herbalism.
- The Making of Shipley’s Habitats (designed for adults)
Embark on a guided nature walk through our trails to learn about the remarkable stories that shaped Shipley’s unique habitats over the last 50 years. From water and ecology to stewardship and volunteerism, this stroll explores the power of people and place to build a positive legacy across time and space.

Nestled in Huntington Beach Central Park West, Shipley Nature Center spans 18-acres of preserved native habitats showcasing Southern California’s biodiversity. The site is managed by the non-profit organization, the Friends of Shipley Nature Center, which is dedicated to habitat conservation, environmental education, and community engagement.
