Bring history to life this spring at Old Economy Village with our Spring Homeschool Day! Homeschool families are invited to "Be a Harmonist for a Day" and experience hands-on history through 19th century trades, spring cleaning activities, and garden preparation. Children and adults can try their hand at traditional crafts and trades, including operating the hand-crank bellows in the blacksmith shop, using hand tools in the cabinet shop and helping run the printing press. Attendees can also help prepare the village garden for the season- just like the Harmonists did over 200 years ago! Historic buildings will be open to explore throughout the day.
This program offers a unique opportunity to step back into the 1830s, learning how the Harmony Society combined faith, work, and community to shape daliy life. As part of America 250, visitors will also see how these early Americian innovators contributed to the nation's cultural and economic foundations.
Special Educational Rate: $5 per child and $5 per parent/guardian. Come explore, create, and connect with history in this one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience at Old Economy Village!
