Among homeowners and native plant enthusiasts, there’s a wide range of tolerance for introduced species. Regardless of your feelings about Dame’s Rocket, Cleavers, or dandelions, you’ll learn how to identify and harvest pervasive plants for food. Together, we’ll discover the edible value in many species that are often disregarded—or even despised. Participants will also sample simple recipes featuring wildcrafted foods made with early spring greens and flowers.This indoor lecture includes an optional short outdoor walk to explore edible spring plants in their natural setting.
About the Speaker:
Lea Sevigny connects with nature in many ways, with a special passion for foraging to create food, herbal remedies, and artistic pieces. Through her business, Joyful Wildcrafting, Lea guides others in embracing the natural world. She is committed to practicing and teaching sustainable, ethical foraging methods rooted in place—most often in West Michigan.
