About this Event
Grab a brush and paint spring ephemerals at M+Co Tecumseh!
Learn how to create a native ephemerals botanical scene with Haley Jula Design at Musgrove + Co Tecumseh!
Spring ephemerals are some of Michigan’s earliest wildflowers, blooming briefly in early spring before the trees fully leaf out. You’ll find them in wooded areas, where they take advantage of the sunlight that reaches the forest floor for just a short window of time. Once the canopy fills in, these plants fade back underground, storing energy until the next spring.
Many of Michigan’s native spring ephemerals—like hepatica, trout lily, and bloodroot—are delicate and fleeting, often lasting only a couple of weeks. Because their bloom time is so short, they’ve become symbols of renewal, patience, and the quiet transition from winter to spring.
For this watercolor class, these blooms are especially lovely subjects: soft petals, gentle movement, and subtle colors that lend themselves beautifully to loose, expressive painting. Capturing them on paper is a way of slowing down and honoring something that nature only gives us for a moment each year.
Your ticket includes all supplies needed to create your masterpiece, plus a drink on us. Don’t miss this relaxing and creative way to celebrate the season—we can’t wait to see you there!
