SMRR volunteer Bryan Monaco will present a detailed history of the New York Central Jackson Branch, tracing the line’s evolution from its beginnings in 1836 through its abandonment in 1982. The program continues with the story of the railroad’s rebirth in 1985, when it was acquired by the Southern Michigan Railroad Society, and explores the many owners and transformations of the line between Lenawee Junction and Jackson. Along the way, Bryan will share the story of the Southern Michigan Railroad Society itself and its ongoing efforts to preserve and interpret local railroad history for future generations. No registration required.
