About this Event
Think like a researcher! Join us for PREsearch, a five-day program where students will learn the tools and techniques of a molecular biologist through hands-on laboratory activities. PREsearch emphasizes experimental design, lab skills, and thinking like a scientist. This program is a great entry point for students looking for an introduction to research, especially those hoping to pursue science opportunities over the summer. For students in grades 9-12.
In this program, students will:
- learn how to use standard laboratory tools;
- learn and practice calculations commonly used in the laboratory;
- prepare and test chemical reagents;
- care for bacterial strains;
- practice experimental design, record keeping, and result interpretation; and
- explore tools for literature search, poster presentation, and result communication.
PREsearch will run April 6 - 10, 2026, from 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM each day, including lunch break. Students must bring their own lunches; no food is provided or available for purchase at the DNALC NYC.
Scholarships are available upon request for families with financial need. To request a scholarship, please email [email protected] with the following information prior to registration:
