About this Event

Ages: 8-14 years old

Coding 101

Scratch is a programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world. The primary focus of the Coding program is to address the development of functioning skills (e.g. problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, focusing attention and remembering instructions). As participants create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically. Group participants will create an account with Scratch and can share their creations with family and friends. Through our coding projects, participants will learn to improve their planning and problem-solving skills.

What you will learn

  • Learners will build a two-dimensional game from start to finish.
  • Learners will gain familiarity and understand the basics of using Scratch.
  • Learners will create characters, customize their costumes and create animations.
  • Learners will enhance the game experience by adding special effects, creating backgrounds and adding sound.
