Unfortunately for our protagonist, The Lifeguard, life takes an unexpected turn as she is unceremoniously plucked from California’s sparkling shores and finds herself in Spray—a grey, wet, and miserable town in Northern England. Desperate to win the ‘Best Beach’ Award, she enlists the help of local lifeguards. But are her intentions pure?
As a dark and sinister underbelly begins to emerge, The Lifeguard must confront her own ideas about beauty and positivity to save others—and herself. Or, y’know, maybe she won’t. Perhaps she’s fine as she is and absolutely not heading for an iceberg.
This is a darkly comic, alternative musical. Adults only—expect something between Barbie, The Book of Mormon, and Elbow.
