About this Event
Celebrate Women's History Month with a special tour spotlighting our Ladies’ Parlors and the spaces women enjoyed at the Mount Vernon Hotel in the 1820s and 1830s. Then enjoy a historically-inspired wine tasting, led by our WSET-certified docent, that will feature a selection of wines inspired by what might have been served to the ladies who visited the Mount Vernon Hotel.
Join us to learn about the interior design and luxuries of the parlors and the activities available to ladies spending time here. These guests were wowed by amendities such as the Greek-inspired décor, the furnishings and other luxuries they could not afford in their own homes, and the many diversions they could pursue as they had a day's escape from their modest homes in lower Manhattan.
As we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Mount Vernon Hotel, we are offering a series of historically-inspired wine tastings to help visitors step back in time and immerse themselves in the Mount Vernon Hotel's period. This event, held in our historic Tavern, will be led by our WSET-certified docent and will feature a selection of contemporary wines that are inspired by what would have been served to women visiting the Mount Vernon Hotel; light refreshments will be served (must be 21).
Treat yourself to this special peek into a day of leisure, as experienced by women in early19th-century NYC.
