About this Event
The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association (SYLA), in collaboration with Scott & Co Sheriff Officers, is delighted to host the next instalment of our “Spotlight on…” series.
This session will explore the latest developments in enforcement practice following the Bankruptcy and Diligence (Scotland) Act 2024, reflecting on how we got here, what has changed, and what lies ahead. With debate ongoing about further reforms — including the proposed Mental Health Moratorium on enforcement — this timely event will provide valuable insight into a rapidly evolving area of practice.
Our speaker, William Cameron, National Enforcement Director at Scott & Co (Scotland) LLP, brings over 35 years’ experience as a Sheriff Officer and Messenger-at-Arms. William will share his perspective on:
- How the 2024 Act builds on (and reopens) provisions of the 2007 Bankruptcy and Diligence Act.
- The practical implications for lawyers, clients, and the wider justice system.
- Current discussions around mental health and enforcement.
- A look behind the scenes at “Dawn Raids” under Section 1 Orders.
This is an excellent opportunity for young lawyers to expand their knowledge, ask questions, and connect with peers in a relaxed setting.
Join us at TLT LLP, 5th Floor, New Clarendon, 112-114 George Street, Edinburgh on Wednesday 22 October 2025 from 6-8 pm.
