About this Event
During this workshop, Stephen Ryan from Green Woodwork Ireland will teach you the skills needed to whittle wood. Each participant will learn axe and knife carving skills to produce their own spatula from locally sourced, freshly cut wood.
This course is suited to all levels including complete beginners. As you will be working in a workshop environment, sturdy footwear is important. A good pair of boots is ideal; if you have steel toe caps, this would be even better. Open-toed or low-cut footwear is not suitable and may mean you cannot participate in the workshop. The tutor will supply safety gloves but if you have your own tight-fitting safety gloves feel free to bring them along, please also tie long hair back and remove jewellery that could get caught in equipment. These safety measures are to protect your hands and feet from cuts, to protect your feet from sharp and heavy tools and equipment being dropped and to stop your hair and jewellery getting caught in a drill or other pieces of equipment in the workshop. You must be aged 16 or over to attend this class. All tools and materials are supplied.
Part of our Belfast Tree Strategy programming.
We have made the decision to charge a small attendance fee in order to cover the costs of running the event. This is a not-for-profit event.
