SPOOKY HOUSE (1 hours and 46 minutes) is a 2002 American family comedy film directed, co-produced and co-written by William Sachs, and starring Ben Kingsley and Mercedes Ruehl. It was entered into the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, winning two awards, "Best Of Fest" and the "Children's Jury Award". This movie was the last film directed by Sachs and was dedicated to his children who were unable to view his movies until they were adults.
William Sachs is an American film director/producer and writer. Besides his work as a writer and director, since working on , Sachs has been particularly noted for successfully doctoring others' films prior to release in order to conform them to the producers' wishes for broader commercial appeal. His films have screened and received more than 25 awards at various festivals. Some of his most notable movies include The Incredible Melting Man, Van Nuys Boulevard, Galaxina, and The Last Hour. Most of his films were adult-oriented, but SPOOKY HOUSE was intentionally made for young children because Sachs wanted to make a movie that his children could watch as youth.
Sachs died of pancreatic cancer on April 7, 2024, in California. He was 81.

WHAT TIME DOES THE MOVIE START?
SPOOKY HOUSE starts on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm.
WHAT TIME CAN I ARRIVE?
Attendees will be allowed to enter the auditorium up to 30 minutes prior to show time.
WHERE DO I PARK?
Free parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the Gardena Cinema on the north side.

Gardena Cinema is located at 14948 Crenshaw Blvd, Gardena, CA 90249.
HOW DO I REDEEM MY TICKET?
Upon purchase, ticket will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment from Eventbrite. When you arrive to the event, please show the entrance attendant the bar code on your ticket at the entrance to the cinema, either by holding up your printed version, or by displaying it on your phone or smart device. Attendant will scan it to check you in, and you'll be good to go into the auditorium!
CAN I BRING FOOD / SNACKS?
NO! This is an indoor screening. Please do not bring outside food or drinks inside the cinema. Tasty refreshments and fresh popped popcorn will be sold at the cinema snack bar.
WILL YOU HAVE RESTROOMS?
YES! Gardena Cinema's lobby, snack bar, and restrooms will be open.
MAY I BRING MY PET WITH ME?
Sorry, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE ACTUAL CINEMA BUILDING, (where restrooms and snack bar are located).
