About this Event
Splash Safer 2026 is a community water safety event at Watermelon Swim, Brooksville, in recognition of National Water Safety Month.
The event is a collaboration between Tampa General Hospital, Hernando County Fire Rescue, and Watermelon Swim, with a shared mission to promote water safety education, drowning prevention, and family preparedness for summer.
Families will have the opportunity to sign up for scheduled time slots to swim alongside a firefighter and Watermelon Swim’s trained instructors for a hands-on, real-life swim lesson experience. During these sessions, children will practice essential safety skills. This interactive component helps build confidence in the water while giving children a memorable opportunity to learn directly from both swim professionals and local heroes.
Please note, you must register your child for a skill appropriate lesson. Parent-Tot classes are for children under 2 years of age and a parent or gaurdian must be in the pool with their child. Levels 1-6 Learn to Swim group classes are 30 minutes with a 4:1 ratio. Our students are placed into group lessons according to swimming ability to ensure all students in a group are within the same developmental range.
If your child is not fully potty-trained (accident-free day and night for 6 months), they must wear a Watermelon Swim reusable swim diaper, available for purchase and fitting at our location. Disposable or other-brand diapers are not permitted. This helps keep our pools clean and safe for all swimmers and instructors.
Swim with a firefighter spots are limited and first-come, first-served. Reserve yours today and join us in celebrating water safety!
