An Open Mic is a type of event that invites professional and novice artists together in a space to share creative works either created by themselves or others. Traditionally, open mic events cater to poets and performance poetry, yet allow poets in all genres a safe place to recite, read, perform their poems/stories.
Spoken word poetry, or performance poetry, is an art form that transforms poetry readings into theatrical events.
