About this Event
Ellis’s past exhibitions have traced an ongoing narrative of becoming. Hold On, Be Strong, Learning As I Breathe, and Seeking Discomfort function as a quiet trilogy, each tracing different stages of internal reckoning, growth, and emotional confrontation. In parallel to his photographic work, Ellis has expanded into filmmaking, extending these explorations into motion pictures. His short film God’s Son was selected for two festivals and received independent screenings in Chicago, Illinois, Jackson, Mississippi, and Memphis, Tennessee.
His latest exhibition, Spilled Milk, marks a shift from a state of striving toward a state of understanding. Rather than looking ahead, the work turns inward. Confronting acceptance, grief, and the release of what cannot be reclaimed. This exhibition marks a moment of reflection within Ellis’s evolving practice. Reflecting a matured vulnerability, offering presence over resolution and honoring the truth that some things are not meant to be gathered back, only witnessed.
