A free group titled Spill the Tea: A Self Love Connection Group for Women of Color is now being offered starting next month. It will be led by Wanda McCants, LPCC-S. The group will be meeting every other Monday from 6pm until 7:30pm starting May 4th, 2026. It will be hosted at the Open Doors Counseling Center office at 501 Darby Creek Road, Suite 39A, Lexington, KY 40509. Contact information and other details are included in the flyer attached to this post. I've included a message from Wanda below.A Message from Wanda McCants:
"Black and brown women have been known to carry everything and everyone. We’re told we’re resilient, strong, and capable. Yet we’re not told we’re graceful, soft, and vulnerable. The systems in the world can make that weight heavier. This group provides a space to be witnessed, held, and uplifted. Love is given so much, yet how much love do you give to yourself?
Self love is about being gentle with yourself, being patient with changes, and letting go of what doesn’t serve anymore. Compassion and empathy are already made for you, not earned.
With 'Spill the Tea: A Self Love Connection Group for Women of Color' I hope to provide a space for Black and Brown women to relate to other women experiencing some of the common stressors we share in a world where we have gender and race stacked against us at times. This is a group to talk over a cup of tea to be seen, be heard, and witness compassion.
There will be an outline for each group meeting, along with a specific tea to share. Please bring your own mug to use to keep things sustainable. This is an open and free group that will welcome attendees at any time.
