Please join us for a special Spenard 2nd Saturday fundraising event for Spenard Song Circle at THE NAVE!What is Spenard Song Circle?
Spenard Song Circle (SSC) was founded by Emma Hill in 2017 as a community-oriented music event celebrating Alaskan singer-songwriters. Originally conceived as a forum for Emma and two additional local musicians to share their original songs and stories in an intimate, conversational format, SSC quickly resonated with audiences for its unique blend of performance and storytelling. Over the years, SSC’s programming has grown to include all-ages open mic nights and songwriter events, creating a platform for both emerging and established Alaskan artists to engage with local audiences. In 2024, SSC officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, positioning itself to expand its programming and strengthen its role in Alaska’s music community.

Spenard Songwriter’s Workshop 2-3:30 pm FREE! (Donations appreciated.)

Shane guides writers, poets, musicians, and all kinds of people who show up for this awesome community event through individual and group songwriting. Bring a notebook, something to write with, maybe an instrument, and an open mind.
All-Ages Open Mic 4-6 pm FREE! (Donations appreciated.)

Sign-up sheet goes out at 3:45 pm. Slots are 15 minutes or 3 songs, and any performance offerings are allowed as long as they are not hurtful or hateful.
Feel like testing out some stand-up? Love to baton twirl? Ready to share your poetry or play us your new musical masterpiece? We will hold space for you!
Mocktail Hour 6-7 pm FREE! (Donations appreciated.)
Marie Russell will be selling beverages and snacks throughout the event, and we offer mocktail hour from 6-7 as a time to gather, chat, and enjoy your community before we settle into our listening room concert. The proceeds will benefit SSC! Thank you, Marie!
Spenard Song Circle 7-9 pm $25 Tickets
Spenard Song Circle is a listening room series hosted by Emma Hill. The event always features two special guest songwriters. The songs are shared in the round. This series is meant to showcase songs, stories, and themes from the artists inspired in the moment by sharing energy and time with each other, as well as the audience. This means the artist might be inclined to share a very old song they haven't sung in years, or debut a brand new one they haven't shared yet. Each song is accompanied by the story of the song, which helps the audience understand the artist and their creative process better. The show is all-ages, but please only bring young folx who can be respectful of the artists in a listening room environment.
