Op 19 februari 2026 blaast György Kurtág 100 kaarsjes uit en dat viert SPECTRA met een concert dat volledig aan de Hongaarse componist gewijd is. Kurtágs muziek lijkt van alle balast ontdaan: er staat geen noot teveel. Rode draad in dit hommageconcert is dan ook zijn Signs, Games and Messages, een soort verzameling van kleine miniaturen. Eigen aan een verzameling is dat die nooit af is. SPECTRA maakte een selectie en plaatst Kurtág in het gezelschap van enkele van zijn eigen muzikale helden — Bach, Webern, Bartók en Kodály — en van enkele componisten uit de 21ste eeuw — Clara Ianotta en Salvator Sciarrino — die door hem beïnvloed zijn. Studenten van KASK & Conservatorium voegen daar nog een creatie van Côme Lenseigne aan toe. De avond eindigt zoals ze ook begint, met de aria uit de Goldbergvariaties van Bach. Onderweg hoort en ziet u SPECTRA in zowat alle mogelijke combinaties die er met vier muzikanten te maken zijn: solo, duo, trio en kwartet.

SPECTRA will celebrate the 100th birthday of Hungarian composer György Kurtág on 19 February 2026 with a concert dedicated entirely to his music. Kurtág’s music is stripped of all excess; not a single note is superfluous. This tribute concert will therefore focus on his Signs, Games and Messages, a collection of short pieces. The nature of a collection is that it is never complete. SPECTRA has curated a selection, placing Kurtág alongside some of his musical heroes, including Bach, Webern, Bartók and Kodály, as well as 21st -century composers Clara Ianotta and Salvatore Sciarrino, who have been influenced by him. Students from KASK & Conservatorium will also perform a piece by Côme Lenseigne. The evening begins and ends with the aria from Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Throughout the concert, you will see SPECTRA perform in a variety of combinations, from solo to quartet.
