In honor of Veterans Day, our dedicated volunteers will open the Meditation Chapel on Monday, November 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.Commissioned after World War II by Mr. and Mrs. Ross Beason to honor their son, Lt. Ross Beason Jr., who was killed in action at age 23, the Meditation Chapel serves as a serene space for quiet reflection. It commemorates the sacrifices of Utah men who died, many of whom remain unaccounted for. The chapel is flanked by 310 markers honoring these young men, whose final resting places span the globe.
The Chapel's design was entrusted to Paul Orvan O. Davis, and Taylor Woolley oversaw its construction. Its exterior features reinforced concrete faced with pink marble and a roof made of Utah copper. Inside, stunning stained glass windows by renowned artist Charles J. Cunnick depict the U.S. armed services and are restored to their original glory.
As you visit, please take a moment to read the engraved poetry on the walls and reflect on the sacrifices of those who served. Our volunteers invite you to stay in this sacred space for as long as you wish.
