Rooted in over 500 years of craftsmanship, Takayama chasen are essential tools in the Japanese tea ceremony, meticulously hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo. In this rare program, Tanimura will share the history, techniques, and cultural significance of chasen-making, followed by a live demonstration of this intricate art form. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy tea prepared using Mr. Tanimura’s chasen.
