BIG TIN PRESENTS:Special Friend // French-American indie noise-pop duo
Special Friend is a Franco-American indie noise pop duo formed in 2018 by Erica Ashleson (drums, vocals) and Guillaume Siracusa (guitar, vocals). Their first self-titled EP, released in 2019, marked the beginning of their musical journey, blending influences of minimalist indie/pop noise reminiscent of bands like Yo La Tengo, Duster, and Electrelane.
Two years later, their debut album "Ennemi commun" received a wave of positive reviews, leading them to perform at significant festivals such as La Route du Rock, Binic Folk & Blues Festival, and the Paris Pop Fest. They also opened for artists such as Juan Wauters, Mystic Braves, Girls in Hawaii, Minami Deutsch, Requin Chagrin, Holy Wave, Secret Shine, among others. The year 2022 was dedicated to the composition and recording of their new album, "Wait until the flames come rushing in," released on June 30, 2023. These new songs once again showcase their ability to create unique and captivating pop, enriched with new keyboard and violin arrangements. Their melodic signature sound remains recognizable, balancing inventiveness and restraint, with bursts of noise and constant harmonious vocal dialogue.
