About this Event
This half-day course will help you understand the key elements of speaking with greater influence and further develop public speaking skills to create and deliver engaging scientific presentations tailored to your audience.
The content will focus on aspects of preparation-identifying key messages and influence strategies through compelling examples and stories, practicing content for memory and minimizing dependency on notes, as well as the art of the delivery.
Note: This workshop includes videotaping as a learning tool.
Workshop Objectives:
● Converse easily about complicated issues related to renewable energy or challenging, “wicked” problems
● Bring data, evidence, logic, and solid arguments to the various audiences
● Employ a questioning style to draw out the best discussion, challenging people appropriately and pushing for insight

● Mastering relational presence and how to connect with your audience

● Build awareness around “filler” words (um’s & ahh’s) and distracting behaviors
● Delivering your presentation with greater commitment
● Manage your physiology (performance anxiety of any kind) for the various types of speaking events
