Speaking Axolotl our monthly Latinx/Chicanx reading series happens the third Thursday of each monht. Come hear Decolonized Verses, Spanglish Poesia, Bilingual chismes y Latinx Spoken Word.. Each month we feature two poets and a 10 slot open mic.
¡This month our very special features are Daniela Tinoco and Amanda Muñiz!
Daniela Tinoco is a self-taught poet and artist, formally educated as an Industrial Designer. She enjoys exploring the liminal spaces in concepts like vida-arte, sentipensar and ternura radical. Recently she has been working on independent editorial projects, her most recent being the fanzine titled “Nuevo hogar” and the poster series “No masculinx, no blancx and no normativx”, which she worked on in collaboration with Juan Vicente Lopez in Mexico. She is interested in collective work and community-building and is aware of the importance of establishing dialogues and affections with the streets, even more now in these post-covid times. Born in Mexico and recently established in San Francisco, she embodies her identity as a complex heritage that transforms continuously and refuses to be divided and labeled.
Amanda Muñiz is a Mexican writer raised in Oakland.
Amanda Muñiz is a Mexican writer based in Oakland. She majored in English Literature from San Francisco State University. Her work has been published by Pochino Press and in the Translating Migration poetry anthology. Amanda has been a featured reader in various shows in the Bay Area including the electrifying ¿Donde Esta Mi Gente?, BEASTCrawl, Literary Speakeasy, LitQuake’s legendary LitCrawl, as well as the Carnival of Poetry organize by Writers of Singapore. Her writing is a testament of her family’s resilience, the immigrant experience, and a reflection of life as she has come to know it.
